Wear My Tears Do Not Weigh Them
2021
Acrylic, ink, graphite, and collage on paper
50 x 38 inches
The figure is a redrawing of Michelangelo's Mourning Woman.
My text is a response to William Kentridge's Weigh All Tears.
Original poem by Martha Little:
Wear my tears
do not weigh them.
They are not to be measured or sold.
Strange pearls of my grief;
They roll beneath the waves of my shattering breath--
waking a grit-worn harvest
stung again and again
by those lusty comforters--Job's jackals
barking their hollow truth.
